Breathe |
| |
From the moment of birth to death we are breathing. Our life is measure by breath .Breath is more important to us than either food or water. we can live without food for weeks and without water for days, but without breath ,we will die within a few minutes .With each breath we exchange carbon dioxide from
inside our bodies for oxygen molecules from the surrounding air.
Breathing is important for two reasons:
* Its supply of oxygen to various organs of the body, which is vital for our survival.
* The second function of breathing is , to get rid of waste products, toxins from the body.
Breathing is so simple and so obvious. We often take it for granted; ignoring the power it has affect body, mind, and soul. With each inhale we bring oxygen into the body and spark the transformation of nutrients into fuel. Each exhale purges the body of carbon dioxide, a toxic waste.
Breathing also affects our state of mind. It can make us excited or calm, tense or relaxed. The rhythm of our breathing varies according to our activities and our feelings. It quickens with physical exertion or emotional upset, it slows down during sleep or periods of relaxation.
The majorities of people breathes incorrectly and are not aware of it. Instead of breathing deeply, brining the air down to the bottom of the lungs, where the richest blood supply is, and the breath is very shallow, only brining the air into the uppermost part of the lungs.
What's wrong with the wat we breathe?
Our breathing is too shallow and too quick, we are not taking sufficient oxygen and we are not eliminating sufficient carbon dioxide, as a result, our bodies are oxygen starved and a toxic build up occur. Every cell in the body requires oxygen and our level of vitality is just a product of the health of all the cells.
We should breathe more slowly and deeply. Quick shallow breathing results to reduce the immune system, premature ageing and other factors.
Infact most of our energy requirements come not from food but from the air we breathe. By purifying the blood steam, every part of the body benefits as well as the mind.
The role of breathe is very important in partice of Yoga
First we need to understand why breathing is incorporate in yoga practice. The breath is prana or vital force. Our body requirements of oxygen or parnic energy are changing depending on our action. I f we exerci8se then more oxygen is required so breathing becomes faster and with force but if we are relaxing then this need of vital energy is lower and breathing becomes relaxed and deep. Also the mental activities affect the breathing. So for physical, mental function, breath is very important.
Generally every yoga session should have a positive resolve, may it be for better physical or mental health. The positive resolve should be integrated with inhalation process, as the air or prana entering into the body affects the entire body _mind complex. The exhalation can be used for relaxing and removing the stress from the body &mind complex.
Important and Benefits of deep breathe
The first rule for correct breathing is that we should breath through the nose, but many people breathe principally through the mouth. Mouth breathing can adversely affect the development of the thyroid gland. It can retard the mental development. The nose has varies defense mechanisms to prevent impurities and excessively cold air entering the body. We should breathe slowly and deeply through the nose. Deep breathing produces the following benefits.
* Deep, slow breathing assists in weight control. IF you are overweight, the extra oxygen burns up the excess fat more efficiently. If you are underweight, the extra oxygen feeds the starving tissues and glands. In other words, yoga tends to produce the ideal weight for you.
* Deep, slow, rhythmic breathing gives relaxation of the mind and body.
* The lugs becomes healthy and powerful, a good against respiratory problems
* Improvement of the nervous system, including the brain , spinal cord
* Improvement in the quality of the blood due to its increased oxygenation in the lungs. This aids in the elimination of toxins from the system.
* Deep, slow, rhythmic breathing reduces the work load for heart.
* Rejuvenation of the skin. The skin becomes smoother and a reduction of facial wrinkles occurs
The role of breathe in Spiritual
Almost all the ancient languages use the same word for air , wind, or breath ,as they do for life, vital energy, or spirit. This principle, this spirit of life is called chi, ki, prana or energy.
The breath is often overlooked and underestimated in our search for the source and meaning of life yet the author of genesis tell us that “God took the dust of the earth and formed the body of man and breathed into the nostrils of man the breath of life and man became a living soul.
The movement of spirit in the body is reflected in the movement of breath. The healing power of Christ, the miraculous power of Moses , the charm of Krishna , the inspiration of the Buddha, all these were attain by breath.
Breath work is a spiritual technology for purification and awakening. When you work with breath, you automatically develop spiritual skills. Breathing makes it clear that the original creative life force energy that built our bodies in the womb is still available to us , to maintain and even rebuild the body.
Yoga is the science of union(with GOD) And yoga holds as a central truth breath is the connection, the bridge between mind, body, and soul, between the visible and the invisible. Breath connects us to each other, and it connects all of us to God, Nature and Existence.
If you want to go into the deepest realities of life, and to reach the highest states of consciousness, then you will have to awaken to the breath. It is the path or at least the doorway to your essence, your core, your soul, your heart of hearts. Breath and breathing tectiniques are now being taught all over the world. Breath awareness leads to the healing of stress, emotional problems, subconscious blocks, fears and anxieties. Opening and relaxing the breath is like opening the doors to your soul
